Sensational Steak And Cheese Pizza With A No-Rise Crust

Posted on

Pizza is always a crowd pleaser, but sometimes you want to make your own rather than ordering from the pizzeria down the street. With this steak and cheese pizza recipe, you can enjoy a delicious homemade pizza in no time. The crust is made without yeast, so it does not need rising time, but it still comes out crispy and delicious.

Ingredients:

For the Crust:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt

For the Toppings:

  • 8 ounces sirloin steak, sliced thinly
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 medium onion, sliced thinly
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup ranch dressing

Directions:

To prepare the crust, begin by stirring together the baking soda, flour and salt. Add the water and olive oil to the bowl, and stir just until the mixture forms a uniform ball. Knead the dough 10 times on a lightly-floured surface. Then, use your fingers to press the dough out into a 12-inch circle on a lightly-greased pizza pan. Set the crust aside as you prepare the toppings and preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.

Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a skillet. Add the onion, and sauté until tender and lightly browned. While the onion is sautéing, toss the steak strips in the Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Add them to the skillet when the onions are beginning to brown. Toss the steak and onions around often until the steak is mostly cooked through. Do not overcook the steak, as it will cook again on top of the pizza in the oven.

When the steak is done cooking, spread the ranch dressing on top of the pizza crust. Then, layer on the three cheeses. Top the pizza with the steak and onion mixture, making sure that these toppings are evenly distributed over the top of the pizza.

Place the pizza in the preheated oven. Bake for 20 – 25 minutes or until the cheese melts and the crust begins to brown on the bottom.  If the cheese seems to be melting too quickly, move the pizza down to a lower rack in the oven; this will encourage the bottom to cook more quickly.

Remove the pizza from the oven, and let it cool for about 5 minutes before slicing. Enjoy!
